Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta met with chairman of the country’s electoral body Wafula Chebukati on Monday afternoon.
The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)
The president’s meeting with Chebukati comes after he reportedly refused to attend a meeting for all candidates, sending his running mate and deputy president, William Ruto.
Last week, head of the IEBC met with the main opposition leader, Raila Odinga ahead of Thursday’s polls.
Jubilee party secretary general Raphael Tuju is reported as saying there was no need for the president to meet IEBC chairman, insisting that the electoral body should just proceed with preparations for the fresh polls.
